Rapeseed Oil is one of the few oils that is grown and extracted in Britain, making it a great choice for the eco-conscious consumer. The oil is rich in oleic acid, linoleic acid and other essential fatty acids. It has a very light skin feel similar to sweet almond oil. In soap it provides proteins and a moisturising lather.
Coconut Oil is fantastic in soap, creating a big fluffy lather due to the high content of lauric acid. This enables it to cleanse without stripping your skin of its natural oils. It is also naturally anti-microbial and anti-fungal, making it perfect in a soap!
Poppy seeds are very effective at scrubbing away dirt, oil and dead skin. They are biodegradable too so the perfect addition to our natural soap.
Juniper Essential Oil is a calming, balancing oil that can help to improve skin irritations. With antiseptic, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal qualities, juniper is a fantastic addition to soap.
Lemon Essential Oil is an uplifting oil with antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral qualities.

What is soap made from?
Traditional cold process soap is made from a mixture of fatty acids - in our case plant oils and butters - mixed with an alkaline solution. In a bar of solid soap, the alkali used is sodium hydroxide, which turns the fatty acids into sodium salts, or soap!
You can tell what the starting oils are in a soap by their Latin name. For example Sodium Olivate is the soap that is formed from Olive Oil, Sodium Rapeseedate is from Rapeseed Oil and so on.
How can I make my soap last a long time?
1. Always keep your soap in a cool dry place.
2. Use a soap dish that allows the soap to dry between uses. Don't let it sit in a puddle of water.
3. If your soap is starting to get a bit soggy, start a new bar so the other one can have a break. This will allow the soap to dry out again.
